The repeater is located at the Douglaswood Scout Camp. This centre is owned by the Dundee Area Scouts and is their outdoor activity centre. The Camp was used during WW2 for radar development work and John Logie Baird spent time at this site working on Radar.
Within the perimeter of the Scout Camp there are still many buildings dating back to the second World War. The building which the repeater is located within (and the mast is supported on) is a blast proof shelter from that time.
The fields around this area, which are now mostly used for sheep grazing, have many (almost) hidden examples of pill boxes, underground bunkers and passages to be found within them.
